Tickets and quick sale for salons
Every pound your salon takes starts life on a ticket. In Makastam each line on a ticket is a service or a product, and each service line is tied to the stylist who did it. Payments, the till, client tabs and staff commission all follow from those lines, so nobody sits down at closing time adding up scraps of paper.
What a ticket is, and why it goes line by line
A ticket is the bill for one visit: the cut, the beard trim, the colour, the tub of wax they took home. Every line is kept separate and every service line shows who did the work. If the senior stylist did the cut and the junior did the blow-dry, that's two lines with two names, and at the end of the week it's the one record that shows, without argument, who earned what.
Open a ticket from an appointment and the services and stylist are filled in; for a walk-in you start fresh. Retail products go on the same ticket and come off stock when it closes. Prices are entered excluding VAT, with a VAT rate per line, including zero. Tips are recorded separately and don't count towards takings or VAT.
Quick sale: a few taps when the queue builds
On a busy Saturday nobody wants long forms. The quick sale screen is built for touch, on a reception tablet or your phone: pick the stylist, tap the services, tap the payment method, done. Choosing a client is optional; for a regular, pick them so the visit goes on their profile.
Pick the stylist
Tap the person who did the work at the top of the screen. A service line without a stylist is flagged in red and you can't take payment until it's fixed.
Add services and products
Tap services from your menu; find products by name or barcode.
Add a custom item if needed
For a package or one-off job that isn't on your menu, add a custom line with its own name and price.
Tap the payment method
Cash, card, bank transfer or on account. The ticket closes, and you can print the receipt or move on to the next client.
If you've agreed a round figure with the client, type what you actually took into "Amount received". The ticket total is matched to that amount and the difference is spread across the line prices. Tips stay out of it. Any line charged at a different price from your menu shows up separately in the end-of-day report, so a discount never just quietly disappears.
Split payments and tabs
A client can pay part in cash and part by card; each payment is recorded under its own method in the till. If the full amount isn't paid, the rest goes on the client's tab, and the list of who owes what is built from these records. More on that: Client tabs.
Cancellations, discounts and reopening are all logged
Cancelling a ticket or giving a discount needs permission and a reason, and who did it, when and why stays in the activity log. If a closed ticket is reopened or cancelled, the till, tab balance, stock and commission are corrected automatically. Stylists can't change amounts, give discounts, take payments or close tickets; if you allow it, they can change the price on their own lines only.
What happens after the ticket is closed?
- Payments go into the till by method: Till and expenses.
- Each line is added to the stylist's earnings: Staff commission.
- The client's last visit date and visit count are updated.
- If the client is connected to Telegram, a link to their receipt can be sent automatically.
- The end-of-day report shows takings, payment methods, discounts and cancellations on one page.

Frequently asked questions
Do I need a special device for quick sale?
No. Quick sale runs in the browser, so it works on a tablet, a phone or a computer with the same account.
Can a ticket be closed without a stylist on every line?
No. If any service line has no stylist, you can't take payment. That way a line never ends up credited to the wrong person, or to nobody at all.
Do tips count towards takings?
No. Tips are recorded separately and don't count towards takings or VAT. How much of a tip goes to the stylist is set in their commission rule.
Can I fix a ticket that was closed by mistake?
If you have permission, you can reopen it, or cancel it with a reason. The till, tabs, stock and commission are corrected automatically, and the change is logged.
